Driver reviews

What drivers say after the keys change hands

★★★★★

I had never owned an EV and was nervous about charging in an apartment. They walked me through my options before I committed, and the range on the listing matched what I see on my daily commute. No pressure at any point.

Danielle Brooks

Switched to electric, West Hollywood

★★★★★

I was on a tight budget and the deal rating told me quickly which cars were priced under market. The dealer emailed an out-the-door quote before I even visited, and the number I signed for was the number I was quoted.

Marcus Hill

First-time buyer, Ontario

★★★★★

We needed a third row and a sensible monthly payment. I booked a Saturday test drive online, the car was ready when we arrived, and the finance calculator on the listing was within a few dollars of the final payment.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

Buying a car should not need a glossary. Here are straight answers to what drivers ask most — and our team is a message away for the rest.

Every listing compares its asking price with the median for comparable cars (same make and model, similar year and mileage) and shows a deal rating: Great, Good, Fair or Above market. When there are not enough similar cars to compare, we say so instead of guessing. Use the rating to build a shortlist, then check the history report and ask the dealer for an out-the-door quote.

The listed price is the dealer’s asking price for the vehicle. Government taxes, registration and license fees, and the dealer documentation fee are extra, and some dealers add optional products. Ask any dealer for an itemized out-the-door quote in writing before you visit so there are no surprises at signing.

Often, yes. Our pre-qualification form gives you a sense of your options from your income band, credit tier, down payment and preferred term. It never asks for your Social Security number, date of birth or card details. A lender makes the final decision, and rates generally rise as credit tiers fall, so a larger down payment or a co-signer can help.

Enter your car’s year, make, model, mileage, condition and ZIP code and you will see an estimated range in seconds. It is a guide based on the details you provide and on comparable cars. A dealer confirms a firm offer after inspecting the vehicle, and you are free to accept it or walk away.

Open any listing and choose a date and time slot in the test-drive scheduler. The dealer confirms by email or phone, usually within one business day. Bring a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance. Some dealers offer extended test drives or home delivery, so check the dealer’s profile for its amenities.

Certified Pre-Owned cars are late-model, lower-mileage vehicles that have passed a multi-point inspection and come with extended warranty coverage. Programs differ by brand and by dealer, so each listing summarizes its warranty in the details. Ask for the written terms: what is covered, for how long, and whether the coverage transfers to the next owner.
