The tower is older than the hotel by four centuries. Built to spot Saracen sails off Capo di Conca, it now anchors a resort of thirty-four rooms that fall in terraces towards the water, every one aimed at the first light of day. Aurora, the name says, and at breakfast on the east terrace you understand.
Rooms are airy and calm, in pale stone, driftwood and soft cotton, with deep tubs, big beds and balconies that are real rooms in their own right. Eight room types range from a quiet garden double to the Tower Suite, a three-level eyrie with a 360-degree view and a private rooftop hot tub.
The spa is the resort’s heart: a vaulted indoor pool heated all year, a sauna and hammam carved into the cliff, a gym with a sea view and a menu of treatments that use lemon, sea salt and local honey. Morning yoga runs on the roof; evening candle swims are an occasional ritual.
Two restaurants, one on the cliff terrace and one down at the sea platform, do tasting menus and simple grilled fish. A private lift cuts the cliff and drops you on a lido with sunbeds, a swim ladder and a bar. For the rest, a concierge team can arrange boats, cooking classes, vineyard tours and a driver for Ravello.

The setting is superb but drilling on the lower terrace woke the whole family at 8am on two mornings and nobody had warned us at booking. Staff offered a spa credit and moved us, but it is not what we paid for.

The spa and the views are first-rate, the food excellent. Prices for drinks and extras are steep even for this coast. Our sea-view room had a lovely balcony, though the shower drain was slow.
