Podere Poseidonia is a working farm of twelve hectares: olives, figs, wheat and a vegetable garden that feeds the kitchen. The old Greeks called Paestum “Poseidonia”, and the ground still yields coins and potsherds whenever somebody digs a new row. The farm has been in the Marino family for three generations and became an agriturismo in 2011 when Carla and Giuseppe, who are now in charge, moved back from Milan to run it.
The eight guest rooms are in the farm’s former stables, granary and hayloft, built from local stone and refurbished with whitewash, exposed beams and Vietri tiles. They are simple and cool, with proper beds, good lamps and no television in the hayloft suite. The stone cottage called Casetta Cilento has two bedrooms, a kitchen and its own terrace, for families or friends who want to cook for themselves.
Breakfast is long and homemade: bread, ricotta, honey, jam, fig cake, eggs and the farm’s own olive oil. In the evening Carla serves a four-course farm dinner on the terrace with wine from the cellar. Between meals there is a salt-water pool surrounded by fig trees, bicycles to borrow, hens to feed and a farm track that leads through the olive groves to the Temples of Paestum in about fifteen minutes on foot.
We are a family business and we like guests who enjoy slow mornings. The cockerel has no concept of weekends. We will happily recommend a guide for the archaeological park, a mozzarella dairy with a tasting and a beach with space to spread out, and we will lend you a basket for the market.

We stayed three nights and enjoyed the pool, the farm dinners and the walk to the temples. The staff were warm and the breakfast included many homemade items. Our room was a little warm in the afternoon, and mosquitoes came out at dusk. A relaxing contrast to the busy coast.

A real farm with lovingly furnished rooms and a fantastic breakfast. The walk to the temples takes only a quarter of an hour. Dinner with wine from their own cellar was a highlight.

Loved the olive oil, the dinners and the quiet. The hayloft suite is gorgeous, though the spiral stairs are tricky after a glass of wine. Mosquitos in the evening, so bring repellent. We would return.

We had two nights at the farm and wished it were five. The mozzarella class was a hit with our kids, the pool was refreshing and our hosts treated us like family. The temples are unmissable and so close.

It really is a farm, with real food from its own land. The rooms are simple but clean and cool. The children loved feeding the hens. Recommended for a quiet holiday.

Walking through the olive groves to the Temples at 8 a.m. before the crowds arrived was magical. Carla’s dinners were generous and delicious, the pool was a delight and the dog loved the hens. Perfect, simple and friendly.

Thank you Tessa and Will. The hens are still talking about the dog.

Send another messageYes. A farm track leads through the olive grove to the northern entrance of the archaeological park in roughly fifteen minutes. Bring a hat in summer and note that the park opens at 08:30.
Farm dinners run most evenings from April to October at 20:00, by reservation the day before. Vegetarian and vegan menus are no trouble. In winter we serve dinner on Friday and Saturday.
Yes. We have two friendly farm dogs and welcome yours for a small fee; they are not allowed in the pool or the dining room.
The salt-water pool is open from May to October, 09:00–20:00, and is not heated. It is fenced on one side only, so we ask parents to supervise children.
All rooms except the hayloft suite are on the ground floor. Camera Ulivo is fully accessible, with a wide door and a roll-in shower.
