Villa Solitaria is hidden on the Pizzolungo path, the coastal walk that curls around the eastern cliffs of Capri. There is no road: the last 120 metres are a stone stair under pines, which is exactly why the villa is so quiet. A single white gate opens onto terraces stepping down toward the water.
The house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a long arched living room that opens on three sides. Furniture is simple and old: walnut chests, raw linen, a Sorrentine chandelier. The kitchen is small but properly equipped, and the pergola table is where the day ends.
Below the terraces a private plunge pool sits on a ledge of rock, and a private stair descends to a swimming platform at the water’s edge. It is the nearest thing on Capri to having the sea to yourself. A small studio on the upper terrace sleeps two and can be booked separately.
Villa Solitaria is not for everyone: the stair is steep and not suitable for guests with limited mobility, and there is no shop nearby. We provide a porter, a welcome basket and a list of restaurants who deliver to the gate.
