Giardino degli Agrumi sits on Via degli Aranci, a quiet stretch of old Sorrento where the walls are warm stone and the air smells of citrus from March to November. The hotel has been in the same family since 1974, and it still feels like it: a front desk where the staff know the children’s names by the second morning, and a kitchen that cooks what is in season.
Behind the house there is a terraced garden of lemon, orange and mandarin trees, with a heated pool, a shallow paddling pool and long shaded loungers. Breakfast is served outdoors under the pergola: ricotta and lemon cake, local honey, eggs the way you like them, and the garden’s own marmalade.
Rooms are bright and unfussy, with tiled floors, quiet air conditioning and good blackout shutters. Most face the garden or the pool; a few upper-floor rooms catch a slice of the Bay of Naples between the rooftops. Family rooms sleep up to five, and cots, bottle warmers and high chairs are free on request.
Piazza Tasso is a ten-minute stroll downhill, the Circumvesuviana station is fifteen, and in summer a small shuttle runs to the Marina Piccola ferries for Capri, Ischia and Positano. In the evening you can eat in our garden restaurant or walk to the old town’s trattorie and be back before bedtime.

We used the ferry shuttle twice and loved coming back to a cool room and a quiet garden. The restaurant’s grilled fish and lemon dessert were excellent. Excellent value for four stars.

Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the garden is lovely. The hallways could do with a refresh and the Wi-Fi was slow by the pool. Otherwise perfect for a family city-and-coast trip.

Yes. Family Rooms have a queen bed plus two single beds and a cot can be added. For six, ask about connecting two rooms on the same floor.
The main pool is heated from April to October. The paddling pool is open all season and always has shade.
Sorrento’s beaches are small piers and lidos rather than sand. We recommend the Marina Piccola lido (reserved sunbeds available) or a half-day boat to Bagni Regina Giovanna.
Yes, free covered parking for 20 cars. Reserve when you book; large vans may not fit the ramp.
