Il Casolare was built for fishermen who needed to keep an eye on their boats, and it still sits where they wanted it: a low stone house above the water, with the fjord’s cliffs on either side. There is a small pebble beach below, a narrow path of steps, and one very old fig tree that shades the terrace.
Inside, everything is as simple as it should be. A stone floor, whitewashed vaults, a double bed in a niche, a kitchen corner with a two-ring hob and a shower room with a window onto the cliff. There is no television. There is Wi-Fi, if you need it, but most guests turn it off.
The terrace is the real living room: a table for two, a pair of old fishing chairs, a barbecue and a rope-and-wood ladder that goes straight into the sea. At night the water makes a gentle noise you can fall asleep to.
The cottage is for two people who like quiet, steps and sunsets. It is not for anyone who minds a steep path (about 60 steps from the lane), and we will gladly send a porter with a cart if you ask in advance.

We loved the location but in early April the cottage felt cold and a little damp, and the heater was noisy. The host replied quickly and brought extra blankets. Better to come in summer.

The location is beyond beautiful. The steps are many, the kitchen is basic and the mattress could be softer, but nobody comes here for a hotel. Sunset from the terrace was a highlight.
