These terms apply when you book a stay through Getaway. They sit alongside the cancellation terms shown on each rate, which form part of your booking.
1. Who does what
Getaway provides the booking platform. Your accommodation contract is with the host named on your booking, and Getaway processes the booking and payment on the host’s behalf. We are not the owner or operator of the stays listed.
2. Making a booking
A booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email with a reference such as GW-7K3F9Q. For stays marked “request to book”, the booking is confirmed only when the host accepts. You must be 18 or over, and the lead guest is responsible for the behaviour of everyone in the party.
3. Prices and taxes
Prices are in euros per room, for the number of guests you select. The total shown at checkout includes VAT where it applies, any cleaning fee and extras you added, and the visitor tax charged by the municipality. Prices can change until you pay; once confirmed they do not.
4. Payment
You pay the amount due now shown at checkout by card or another method offered. Where a rate has a deposit, the balance is due at the time stated on the rate and may be collected at the property. We may cancel an unpaid booking after the payment window shown at checkout.
5. Cancellation and changes
Each rate carries its own policy: flexible, moderate, strict or non-refundable, explained on our cancellation policies page. Refunds follow the policy tier that applies on the day you cancel, and are paid to your original payment method. The EU 14-day withdrawal right does not apply to accommodation booked for specific dates. To change dates, message the host: if they agree, we will update the booking.
6. Arrival and your stay
Check-in and check-out times are shown on the stay and in your confirmation. Please tell the host if you will arrive late. Hosts may ask for identity documents because Italian law requires guest registration. House rules on quiet hours, smoking, pets and parties are part of the stay and are shown before you book.
7. If something goes wrong
If the host cannot provide the stay you booked, we will help you find a comparable one and refund any difference or the full amount if you prefer. Please report problems on the day so the host can fix them, and write to us if they are not fixed.
8. Liability
We are responsible for the booking service we provide. We are not liable for events beyond our control, such as extreme weather, strikes or ferry suspensions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your rights as a consumer.
9. Complaints and governing law
Write to hello@getaway.example and we will reply within five working days. Italian law governs these terms, and as a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory rules where you live. EU consumers can also use the European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform.
Demo site note. Getaway is a demonstration brand. These terms illustrate a stays-booking contract and are not legal advice: have your own terms reviewed before you take real bookings.
