Privacy policy

This policy explains how Getaway handles personal data when you browse the site, send an enquiry or book a stay. We keep it short because we keep the data short.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Getaway Stays S.r.l. (fictional demo company), Via Lorenzo d’Amalfi 12, 84011 Amalfi (SA), Italy. You can reach us at hello@getaway.example.

What we collect

• When you book: name, email, phone number, billing country, your dates and guests, arrival time and any request you write. Card details go to our payment provider, Stripe, and never reach our servers.
• When you write to us or a host: your message and contact details.
• When you leave a review: your name, country, rating and text.
• On your device: saved stays, compare lists, recently viewed stays, saved searches and chosen dates are kept in your browser’s local storage. We do not receive them.

Why we use it, and on what basis

To perform your booking contract: confirming the stay, passing the details the host needs to welcome you, taking payment and sending reminders. To meet legal duties: Italian law requires accommodation providers to register guests and keep accounting records. For our legitimate interests: preventing fraud, keeping the site secure and improving search. Newsletters are sent only with your consent, which you can withdraw in one click.

Who sees it

• The host of the stay you book, who receives your name, contact details and arrival information.
• Our payment provider, Stripe, to take payment and prevent fraud.
• Hosting, email-delivery and security providers who process data for us under contract.
• Public authorities when the law requires it, for example guest registration.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for the cart, checkout and your account, and a preference for light or dark mode. Analytics, if enabled by the site owner, are cookieless or anonymised. You can clear browser storage at any time.

How long we keep it

Booking and invoice records are kept for ten years, the period required for Italian accounting records. Enquiries that did not lead to a booking are deleted after 12 months. Reviews stay online until you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to some processing, and withdraw consent. Write to us and we will answer within one month. You may also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, at garanteprivacy.it.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for current bookings, by email.
