Italian rider Lorenzo Savadori arrived in the 125cc World Championship with high expectations, backed by a strong résumé in two-stroke competitions. Born in Cesena in 1993, he was introduced to racing by his father and quickly rose through junior ranks. In 2007, he was selected for the inaugural Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, winning the opening race at Jerez and finishing runner-up in the series.
