The carbon-fiber Monocage II-S tub is so stiff that McLaren did not need to add structure for the roof, so the Spider gives up almost nothing in speed: 710 horsepower from the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, 0-60 in roughly 2.8 seconds, and a retractable hardtop that stows in about 11 seconds.
