The 2026 offseason ledger

Training camps are open and the 2026 season begins in September. Between now and then every club in the league will tell you it has fixed the thing that ended its 2025 season.

Some of them will have. The reliable predictor is not the signing that got the press conference, it is whether the club improved the five positions it was worst at, and most clubs improve two.

Longer term, the interesting question is repeatability. Turnover margin swings from season to season; yards per play does not, and that is the number to trust in a projection.

Continuity is undervalued in this window. Clubs that keep a coordinator and a starting five on the offensive line tend to start faster than clubs that rebuilt both, whatever the talent gap says on paper.

The schedule ahead offers no soft landings. Four of the next six come against teams that finished the season above .500, and two of them are on the road in hostile buildings.

The schedule, the standings and every roster are already live on the site, and the pick’em board opens with the first slate of the new season.
