The 2025 season in review

The 2025 season ended with Seattle Seahawks lifting the trophy after a 14-3 regular season. It is the club’s 2nd championship.

Every season looks inevitable in hindsight and none of them are. The teams that were supposed to be there in January were mostly there, which is less common than it sounds.

The margins at this level are narrow enough that a single missed gap fit becomes an explosive play, and an explosive play becomes a two-score swing. That is the whole sport in one sentence.

The competitive middle of the league is where the year was decided. Six clubs finished within two games of a wild card place, and the tie-breakers that separated them came down to conference records set in October.

None of this happens without the line of scrimmage. Both fronts played the whole game the way a coordinator draws it up in August, and the ball carriers were the beneficiaries.

The archive of the whole season, week by week and club by club, is on the scores page, and the full bracket is under tournaments. The 2026 schedule is already up.
