\u201cIl Salotto\u201d means the drawing room, and that is what these apartments feel like: a pair of tall, light-filled flats in a 1920s palazzo in the heart of Chiaia, one of Naples\u2019s most elegant quarters. Giulia grew up two blocks away and rented the apartments to friends before opening them to guests. She has kept the stucco ceilings, the herringbone parquet and the shelves of books she could not bring herself to move.<\/p>\n
The one-bedroom Salotto Apartment has a long living room with a sofa bed, a kitchen with a Neapolitan flip coffee pot and a bedroom that overlooks the quiet courtyard. The Terrace Studio, on the top floor, has a queen bed, a kitchenette and a terrace with a table and jasmine. Both flats have Wi-Fi, desks and shuttered windows against the city\u2019s warm nights.<\/p>\n
Chiaia is Naples at its most polished: Piazza dei Martiri and Via Chiaia for shopping, the Villa Comunale gardens and Lungomare for evening walks, and a hundred bars for the pre-dinner spritz. The funicular up to Vomero is a five-minute walk, and the historic centre is twenty on foot.<\/p>\n
